TextPipe is very useful in extracting the information we are seeking
- I take large GIS (Geographic Information Systems) datasets from various
government agencies and produce maps for print or digital (web) display. Many
of the datasets are in assorted and sometimes esoteric formats and my software
(ESRI Arcview 3.3 and ESRI ArcGIS 8.3) is very specific (and extremely picky)
about the format of imported data. I mainly use TextPipe for these data
conversions
- Data extracts and reformatting including XML
- Cleaning IBM AS/400 spool files
- Cleaning text files, code translation
- Converting columnar file to line files
- Converting text files for transfer of date between applications
- Merging text files from list server archives, stripping headers &
exporting to a delimited file
- Data mining
- Email address extraction
- Filtering output from manufacturing equipment
- Pre-processing of xml data before publishing
- Importing OCR text files into large databases
- QA tool
- Text transformation for forensic analysis
- Web development
- Ad-hoc file data manipulation
- and much more.
